VASAB/EWW conference for Russian stakeholders will take place on 18 October in St. PetersburgOn 18 October 2007 VASAB within the framework of East-West Window project will organize Conference on strategic planning in the Baltic Sea Region for Russian stakeholders. The Conference will take place in St. Petersburg, back to back with VASAB 44th CSD/BSR meeting and 6th all-Russia Forum for Strategic Planning organized by Russian Economic Developers Association (ASSET).
The Conference will discuss EU and Russian experience in fostering innovations on the national, regional and municipal levels. The implementation of Leipzig Charter on Sustainable European Cities and Territorial Agenda of the EU as well as Maritime Spatial Planning will be discussed. A separate round table discussion will be devoted to urban revitalization, business development and fostering innovations at local level.
The Conference will serve as a brainstorming tool for development of the long term spatial perspective for the Baltic Sea Region.
More than 230 participants, including 70 non-Russian participants have already registered for the Conference.
The aim of the East West Window project is to promote territorial integration of the North-West Russia and Kaliningrad into the Baltic Sea Region through joint spatial planning and development actions in the priority fields such as business development, transport and ICT development as well as in the sea use planning and Integrated Coastal Zone Management.The project has received a grant support from The European Union BSR INTERREG IIIB Neighbourhood program.
