28 August 2014 Roundtable on Aquaculture and Maritime Spatial Planning, Malmö

Region Skåne invites you to a roundtable on Aquaculture and Maritime Spatial Planning at World Maritime University in Malmö on the 28th of August.

The roundtable will discuss the application processes for aquaculture in Sweden and in selected Baltic Sea countries and discuss the implications for MSP in this work. The discussion will be both from perspective of the industry using concrete cases and the authority and will highlight difficulties in this process.

The aim is to identify similar issues and practices and identify what and how MSP can play a role in aquaculture planning and approval processes.

17-18 June 2014 Baltic MSP Forum, Riga
PartiSEApate Conference

VASAB together with the PartiSEApate project organised the Baltic Maritime Spatial Planning Forum - PartiSEApate Conference which took place on 17th – 18th June, 2014 in Riga, Latvia. The forum served as a platform for discussions among those involved and affected by Maritime Spatial Planning on how to further develop and enhance MSP in the Baltic Sea Region.

06 June 2014 MSP workshop series: 3. Shipping, Athens

EU DG MARE 3rd workshop will be dedicated to shipping and will gather experts, industries and NGOs to discuss the coexistence and synergies between shipping and other maritime sectors in a context of increasing use of marine space.

1-5 June 2014 Baltic Sea Days, Turku

The conferences, meetings and events of Turku Baltic Sea Days 2014 include: the 10th Summit of the Prime Ministers of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), the 16th Baltic Development Forum Summit and the 5th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, and the XII Baltic Sea NGO Forum.

According to the Mayor of Turku Aleksi Randell, all participants at the Turku Baltic Sea Days, from prime ministers to civil society representatives, share a common vision: to make the Baltic Sea region more competitive and to promote the sustainable development and well-being of its citizens – and, thus, make it a better place to live.



4-5 June 2014 ESPON Open Seminar “Opportunities and threats for territorial cohesion: Blue Growth and Urban Poverty”, Nafplion

The two priorities of the Hellenic Presidency, namely blue growth and urban poverty, will be examined in the context of the current economic crisis with the two-fold purpose of (1) Allowing policy-makers, practitioners and researchers to share concrete experiences, discuss the use of territorial evidence and identify development options relevant to the two themes; (2) Demonstrating the usefulness and capability of the ESPON knowledge base for policy-makers, practitioners and researchers alike.
